Many of our club swimmers begin with SIA in our lessons program. In lessons, swimmers begin to gain comfort with being in the water and learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke. There is very close attention from instructors. The lessons group meets twice a week for 30 minutes.
Stroke Group - Coach - Brittney Usowski
Stroke group is for swimmers who have successfully completed swim lessons. The swimmers are able to swim 25 yards freestyle breathing to the side and 25 yards backstroke in good form. This group works on improving freestyle and backstroke technique and endurance until swimmers are able to complete 50 yards of each correctly. This group meets 2 days per week for 45 minutes each session.
Copper Team - Coaches - Anne Graves
Copper swimmers will primarily focus on learning body control and balance in the water as well as the techniques of swimming the four competitive strokes: butterfly, breast stroke, in addition to further fine-tuning backstroke and freestyle techniques. They will learn how to listen and respond to instructions from coaches and participate in meets. This group meets for 1.25 hours, 3 days per week.
Bronze Team - Coaches - Stacy Reinke
Bronze swimmers will continue to focus on body control, the four competitive strokes, turns, and starts while adding brief training sets to develop aerobic capacity. They will continue to listen to instructions from coaches, participate in meets, and perform simple math via counting laps, calculating sets and reading clocks. There is some increase in endurance swimming, but the focus remains on excellent technique. This group meets for 1.25 hours, 3 days per week.
